Pardubice, 16 February 2012 – The fundraiser held by employees of the Paramo Company, a member of the Unipetrol Group, contributed almost 15 thousand crowns to the Slunečnice Daycare Center. This money will help the center purchase equipment for its café, where daycare center clients will be able to find employment. With their Splněná přání Christmas fundraiser, Unipetrol Group employees raised money to be contributed to non-profit organizations in Pardubice, Most and Prague.
"The employees showed great solidarity and, along with the entire Unipetrol Group, they contributed to improving the quality of life in those regions in which they live and work – for this, they deserve all our thanks," the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Unipetrol, Piotr Chełmiński, remarked in commenting on the outcome of this Christmas fundraiser.
In the days before Christmas, the employees of the Unipetrol Group used the company's internal intranet information service to select the three non-profits that were to receive money from their Christmas fundraiser. Each organization was from a different region in which the Unipetrol Group was active in the Czech Republic – the Ústí and Pardubice Regions and Prague.
In the Pardubice Region, which is the home of Paramo, the employees of the company selected the Slunečnice Daycare Center to be the beneficiary of the funds raised. The Center provides services to the mentally disabled and those with a combined range of handicaps, from 9 to 55 years of age. In addition to assistance with daily tasks, the daycare center offers learning, therapeutic and educational activities, which help those served to better integrate into society.
With the money from the Christmas fundraiser, the Slunečnice Daycare Center will be able to purchase additional equipment for its café, which is being prepared for opening on Perštýnské Náměstí Square. The facility will offer employment to those with learning disabilities. The objective of this project is to provide clients of the day center with meaningful opportunities to contribute back to their community through gainful employment.
