Paramo has won a one-year contract to supply oils to the joint-stock company OKD
Pardubice, 02.09.2010 – The company Paramo has won a one-year contract to supply oils to
the joint-stock company OKD, which client will pay ca CZK 25 mil. for.
The contract was concluded for one year and the Pardubice’s refinery shall in this period
supply OKD with approximately 650 ths. litres of hydraulic and industrial transmission oils for the
machinery in underground mining shafts of the company.
The company Paramo met the requirements for oil supplies using truck tanks or 10 and
20-litre containers that were one of the selection criteria. The company obtained the certificate
for plastic containers from VVUÚ, a.s., (former Scientific-research Coal Institute) in
collaboration with the company GREINER.
“From ten companies participating in the tender, three of them passed to the final based detail
oil testing in independent tribotechnical laboratories in the Czech Republic. Two of them had
already supplied lubricants demanded in the public tender to OKD. Therefore the starting position
of Paramo was not very good. We have overcome our competitors thanks to favourable price/quality
combination, logistic availability, and also prompt and correct negotiations,” mentions Radek
Hořínek – Business Manager.
The company OKD has been purchasing also other lubricant types from the Pardubice’s refinery
since 2007. In particular these are bearing, compressor, turbine, and automotive oils. By this
contract, Paramo has more than doubled the volume of goods supplied to OKD.
Other significant customers in the area of industrial lubricants produced by Paramo include
Třinecké železárny, ArcelorMittal, Vítkovice Heavy Machinery, or Gumárny Zubří.
PARAMO, a.s.,
a member of the UNIPETROL/PKN ORLEN group, processes crude oil into refinery and asphalt
products and produces lubricating and process oils, including follow-up and auxiliary
products,. The refinery also purchases and processes oil hydrogenates and hydrocrackates. The
intermediate products are used by the refinery to produce base and lubricating oils with very low
sulfur contents. The company employs 687 people.
