Mogul Racing Team driver Jan Černý from the leading engine oil manufacturer Mogul is preparing thoroughly for the upcoming Barum Czech Rally Zlín 2018, supported by Paramo of the Unipetrol Group. The rally will take place from 24 to 26 August 2018 as part of the Czech and European Rally Championships.
“We don’t want to leave anything to chance at the Barum Rally. That's why we’ve concentrated on a series of pre-competition tests, figuring out the best racing strategy in preparation for handling the demanding racing tracks around Zlín,” said Mogul Racing Team driver Jan Černý, whose results from competitions in Český Krumlov and Hustopeče confirm that he is very much in command of the Ford Fiesta R5. “I’m looking forward to a great weekend and believe that with navigator Petr Černohorský we’ll put on great performances and have exciting moments competing with the top European champions. We’ve had the chance to match our strength with them in Italy recently, and I think that Zlín will also be a very fast and fascinating contest”.
“The prestigious Barum Czech Rally Zlín, which is one of the most important competitions in Europe, is the pinnacle of the season for Czech fans,” said PARAMO Marketing Manager Petr Kalach. “While Honza Černý and the whole Mogul Racing Team fight for the podium, as partners of the race, we’re giving visitors a rich accompanying programme. A rally simulator will be available to the public at the Mogul Racing Team service area. On social networks, we’ll be competing for a ride with Jan Černý during the official training session and offering discount vouchers for the Mogul Racing Team Fan Shop. I also invite all car enthusiasts to the official signing on Tuesday, 21 August at 7 pm at the Golden Apple Shopping Centre in Zlín.”
At the 48th Barum Czech Rally Zlín, which will be held from 24 to 26 August 2018, around three dozen R5 category cars will take part and the audience can look forward to performances by great Czech and European names in this competitive sport. Rally organizers have already confirmed that Dani Sordo, World Series WRC driver, will arrive in Zlín as the biggest star. Six time winner of the Zlín Rally Jan Kopecký and European Champion Alexei Lukjaňuk will also be there. But Mogul Racing Team crew Jan Černý and Petr Černohorský in their Ford Fiesta R5 are also ready to show their worth, aiming to take a leading position in the finals.
Attractive to spectators and demanding for drivers, the track at the Zlín competition has been part of the eight-part European Rally Championship series (FIA ERC) for 35 years. Participants of the Barum Czech Rally Zlín will face 15 speed tests divided into two stages. The total distance of the asphalt surface track for the speed test is 212.5 km long, comprising eight sections. The total distance of this year’s Zlín rally is 746 km. Compared to last year, 40% of the track has changed.
