Dakar notes II: Weather complicates the race, Saturday stage cancelled

09-01-2017

This year’s Dakar is quite tough to the competitors for the time being. Bad weather forced organizers to shorten the fourth and fifth stage while the sixth stage was cancelled completely. All participants were given an extra day to regenerate as Sunday was the only non-racing day of the rally. The best riders and drivers supported by Paramo and Mogul are among the second ten in their categories.

Ondřej Klymčiw remains the most successful Czech biker so far occupying currently the fourteenth position. According to the official Dakar Rally website, David Pabiška will be starting the seventh stage from the current 54th place. Rudolf Lhotský moved up to the current 83th position.

Friday’s stage was a success to Martin Macík’s liaz truck that finished in fourth place securing the 16th position in the overall standings. Following the withdrawal of Josef Macháček, Zdeněk Tůma is fighting courageously finishing the fifth stage in the eleventh position and is now in 14th overall position according to the official website.
