Increasing energy efficiency

The project is partially financed from the funds of the European Union
(from the European regional development
fund) under the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic proclaimed the 2nd appeal for submitting projects under the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation (OPEI/OPPI) within the priority axis No. 3, Efficient Energies. Based on the rules of the appeal, even a big company can receive such assistance. That is why Paramo decided to apply for a grant to increase the energy efficiency of its thermal power station by installing a new turbogenerator.

Investments of this type belongs among the activities supported within the highest priorities – increasing efficiency during energy production and consumption. In the Paramo case, it represents a possibility to acquire a grant in the amount equal up to 40% of the acceptable expenses. A significant environmental contribution of this investment – potential energy savings of more than 90,000 GJ/year and savings up to 10,000 tons of CO2/year – was confirmed by an Energy Audit.

Submitting the given application within the OPEI programme takes place in two stages. In February 2009, the Registration Application was processed, based on which the rating of the applicant is evaluated. This application was accepted by Czechinvest and Paramo was consequently allowed to prepare a Complete Application, which was submitted in April 2009. In February 2010, PARAMO, a.s., has been called upon to sign the contract for grant subsidies 40 % of allowable costs for this project. PARAMO, a.s., may draw up to 43,2 mil. CZK.
